Lux Navalis and telematics |

What is telematics? Telematics in a nut shell is: Production of services to the user by combining wireless communication, tracking and position information. Lux Navalis
can produce these services because it is a sophisticated position-database system combined with positioning and wireless communication. The positioning device is a gps-device (std or DGPS) and the wireless communication is performed either through the tcp/ip-network (internet) or in the form of text messages (GSM-SMS). Separate telematics devices are e.g. Benefon Esc! and different Track-devices, Garmin NavTalk and Nokia Communicator. Benefon Esc! and Track can communicate with Lux Navalis directly. Other devices need some further programming. The AIS-function, which has been in Lux Navalis for a long time, is a part of telematics devices. What can I do with telematics? With telematics you can communicate with positional information of the user. The most common way is to send the true position of the user to some other device.
In Lux Navalis Professional you can request positional information of the nearest or known
Lux Navalis Professional can also send and receive parameters of search patterns to and from the rescue organisation. It can also relay SMS-messages to other installations of Lux Navalis or Lux Navalis Professional by using tcp/ip-protocol. Examples of the use of telematics: The followin list gives an example of usage of telematics. Part of the applications are already in use. Possible applications are e.g.:
In Lux Navalis Professional you can also construct your own positional services. Why is telematics extending? The use of telematics is growing because it is possible to improve the efficiency of activities and thus gather saves. It is also esy to develop the operation principles. Quite often it is easy to calculate the benefits and costs:
Investing in telematics pays back quite soon
Did you find your own field of application? Telematics will be developed further in Lux Navalis in the future, too.
